Here we have a very rare Ford Mustang for sale fitted with a Chrysler 440 cubic inch engine (7.2L).
This car was originally built by a Yorkshire man called Nigel Carter who was a coded welder and engineer, it ran successfully in Super gas for many seasons it was originally over engineered with the intention of running it in pro mod.
Before emigrating Nigel sold the car to another Yorkshire based well known drag racer called Bernie Hepworth, Bernie also successfully ran the car for many more seasons in super gas with a best run of 9.6 seconds at 147mph.
We bought the car from Bernie in 1992 and also ran super gas for about 7 years, we then came out of our big garage business, due to downsizing we lost space to keep this at the garage premises and it was put into storage with our crew chief at his home, unbeknown to us he turned into an alcoholic and sold the car, a few years later the car was spotted by someone in the know and eventually we got the car back.
On return of the car we placed it into our garage at home and then we replaced some of the parts that had gone missing (radiator, carburettor & ignition system. The engine instantly fired up and sounded no different to when we last raced it – awesome.
The original body colour was white and has been repainted bright red, we enquired about having the vehicle tagged and paid for one of the official drag racing engineers to inspect the car, he told us that although the tubular chassis wall thickness was not quite as thick as required to meet current legislation (seem to remember 114 as appose to 120 being mentioned) he was prepared to pass it.
Apparently lots of dragsters built during the 70’s & 80’s were built from the same tube material and rather than fail them all they would pass them providing that any additional strengthening required was done using the later thicker tube. Our dragster required some cross beams on both sides between the foot wells and the sill areas, this work has now been carried out. Although the car is already fitted with a reinforced gearbox shielding plate it still requires a certified one to be fitted, and finally a currently approved driver’s seatbelt harness is also needed.
Mated to the 440 Chrysler V8 is a 3 speed auto box, we are not sure of the make but this is one of the most popular units of its time and has also been rebuilt and modified for drag racing.
The rear end has been tubbed and even though we are not sure of the make a very strong and modified axle and half shafts have been used. The car also has an integral roll cage.
The car has not been run on the track for a few years, it just needs finishing off for someone then to have a lot of fun.
The reason we have eventually decided to sell is that we are now running a street car with the NSCC and currently involved in the development of a diesel nitrous system.

Junior dragster 7.90 - the much photographed "Hyperactive" car
We're selling our 7.90 junior modified advanced dragster, this is a 2003/4 Halfscale chassis with a 3 1/4 Lpw engine and Gaged clutch assembly. It has just had a full engine rebuild (camshaft, followers, springs, con rod, piston, rings and bearings) with zero runs, although we intend to run the car until it's sold. The clutch also benefitted from a full rebuild, including springs, bushes and ramps. We're selling the car complete with starter, fuel, some spares, race suit and arm restraints, and will assist anyone with running and setting up the car if required. We have ballast and restrictors to slow the car down to 9.20 if needed although the car has run down to 7.70. It is currently set up to run with a 6ft driver (although Jacob manages at 6'2"!!), but the pedals and seat are adjustable to allow much shorter/younger drivers. The car is race ready and needs nothing, over the last couple of years it has had new steering rack and track rods, new tyres, new bearings and rebuilt brakes. Although we intend to finish the season, the car is available immediately, but please no silly offers as we're happy just to hang it on the garage wall!!

Here's a few figures re numbers. In 1995 only 4005 Cobra coupes were built. Out of those,there were only 760 black with black leather...so rare.
Ok, Mine had a flowmaster cat back system fitted 2007,plus Lakewood upper and lower rear suspension arms.Also new front discs and pads.Oil and filter (Mobil1),gearbox and rear axle oil changed (Synthetic)
In 2011 it had a new Zoom clutch fitted after the original let go at Santa Pod.
In 2012 it had a new radiator and C+L induction kit, plus Ford Motorsports aluminium prop shaft.Also new spark plugs,drive belt,oil and filter (Mobil1)
In 2013, adjustable Strange shocks fitted front and rear,plus Eibach lowering springs fitted.I had new windscreen fitted and some paintwork done to bring up to scratch (Pro - Millway cars)
In January 2014, it has had new rear discs and calipers,and pads
It has now done just over 64k miles.
It is taxed and MOT'd - MOT to April 17th.I will get it MOT'd again so it will have a years ticket.
It runs and drives great...sounds really nice and will do the 1/4 in roughly 14.10 'as is'
I love the car (and Fords in general),but also love racing.I'm not desperate to sell and don't need to. I have two other Mustangs as well. I'm considering selling because I've had it longer than I usually keep a car and am thinking of a change. I have spent a lot of money on this car and it's in great condition...except the air con needs re charging and there is and never was, any stereo system fitted (there are speakers). I might be interested in some other vehicle as part exchange. This would be to the value of approx £3500 or so plus cash my way. I might swap but unlikely unless for something older or drag orientated. Who knows....if you have something you think I might like then please email me.

Due to a change in circumstances I regretfully selling the Ex John Bradshaw R33 GTST JDS Pro drag car. After a successful first year with the car in Sportsman ET where we qualified first at 1 out of 4 events, it’s time to move on. The car is taxed and MOT’d – drive it to the track, race and then drive it home, the car doesn’t miss a beat! The car will come with a tonne of spares including 5 wheels with very good tyres. It’s had a few JDM style cosmetic mods and features has an uprated suspension installed. The only performance mod is an air filter and the car runs mid 15’s (PB of 15.47). The original filter will come with the car. The car currently has no interior but I have it all and this will be sold with the car – I’ll even re-fit if you want. 2.5l V6 Engine.
Although it’s a manual, if the driver does their job the car is very consistent. Ideal first drag car to get into the sport, will fly through scrutineering with no problems and it’s a cool road car too. Do with it as you wish!
